Jaden Hair

{xtypo_dropcap}S{/xtypo_dropcap}ay the term “steamy kitchen” out loud and one either imagines a kitchen filled with simmering pots and pans boiling over with teasing aromas, or the image of the chef brimming over with passion and zeal. Which is exactly what Jaden Hair intended when she coined the name “Steamy Kitchen” for her then-unknown food blog. Jaden envisioned a marriage between both images, the first representing the steam let off by the pots of soup her mother would make when she was a child, the second representing her fiery, steamy attitude and zest for doing what she loves.

Four years ago, Steamy Kitchen was born from the need for Jaden to have a storage bin for the plethora of hand-me-down Asian recipes from her mother. A food blog seemed like the perfect container. Now, that little recipe box has landed Jaden several highfalutin television appearances, a slot in the Hottest Women in Food and a beautiful cookbook with another in the works, as well as her being touted as one of the top social media influencers by Klout. Not too shabby, although being born in Hong Kong may have given her an advantage on how Asian cuisine should truly look and taste.

Such recipes as Grilled Fish with Kabayaki Sauce, Thai Coconut Curry Chicken, and Korean Jap Chae Noodles are a few of Jaden’s flavorful dishes that adhere to Steamy Kitchen’s mission of “Fast, Fresh and Simple,” allowing her followers to provide bright, healthy dishes to their families without sacrificing entire evenings in the kitchen. This ideal is close to Jaden’s heart, as spending time with her husband, Scott, and their two boys, Andrew and Nathan, is the top priority in her life. “Go big or go home” was once Jaden’s motto of choice, but after being steps away from her dream of being a Food Network star, she realized that a lifestyle filled with excessive travel and never-ending work days was no longer her dream ideal. Today, Jaden’s motto is “stay small but have a ton of fun.” Which, to the Hair family, means spending sunny days on their spacious Bradenton property catching fresh fish from the pond, tending to the garden, or watching the dog chase chickens around the yard.

At the time of the interview, Jaden was planning a trip out to Texas where she and, melodic singer, Jewel were rendezvousing to film a holiday segment for the Hallmark Channel. She was also gearing up for her Food Blog Forum event being held this April in Orlando. It’s a one-day seminar geared toward food publishers and food bloggers. Most other times, Jaden can be found exuding a general sense of steaminess at home in her kitchen. steamykitchen.com
