Orange Lavender Honey Syrup

Yield: 5 cups

Recipe by Nathan Lutchansky, Spirits Director at Tender Bar + Kitchen. As seen in Edible Allegheny's April/May 2015 installment of Perfect Pours.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds honey
  • 1/4 cup lavender flowers
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • Peels of 2 oranges

Directions

  1. Heat all ingredients in a medium-sized pot.
  2. Once heated, simmer on medium for 3 to 4 minutes, with a watchful eye as honey boils over easily.
  3. Remove from heat and steep for 15 minutes.
  4. Strain into sterile container and store in refrigerator for up to 2 months.
